This fungus is growing on log rounds that the hubster brought home from a construction site in town, where the builders took down some huge trees. The rest of the trees have already been split up for firewood, but some of the rounds are so massive that we’ll have to rent a log splitter to cut them up. In the meantime, they are playing host to fascinating colonies.
I took these photos in the rain–that’s why everything looks all shiny. I know next to nothing about fungi, but find it/them fascinating. The way they can live on ANYTHING is just . . . wow. Anyone know what these are?
